A professional guitarist since 1987, Pauric Mather is also a guitar teacher and author of 4 #1 Best-Selling Guitar Books. He is a pioneer of new ideas in the field of guitar teaching, with which he has achieved outstanding success. Many of these, such as “The Guitar Triangle”, introduced in 1997, are now copied by guitar teachers worldwide.
As of 2022, Pauric is the most translated guitar author in the world. His books, audiobooks and teaching methods are now available in more than 10 languages, worldwide.

Pauric Mather started playing music aged 7, mostly piano accordion and keyboards. At age 13, playing in "The Mansion House", Dublin, he finished joint first in the All Ireland accordion championships. A year later, he featured on the national radio stations "Young Musicians" programme.
He started learning guitar aged 15. But despite his knowledge of music and success with key instruments, he failed badly on guitar - and gave up after 3 months. Two years later, he decided to start again.
But this time he received invaluable support and guidance from 2 world class musicians, George Furey and Finbar Furey. Regarded as musical royalty at the time, they were members of the world famous folk group The Furey Brothers.
Within a few years, Pauric Mather had become a seriously accomplished guitarist, and much-sought after, as a freelance musician. He went on to work with many successful artists and songwriters. And in 2002, he wrote a best seller The Finbar Furey Songbook.

But, no matter how busy he was, or where he lived, Pauric always had time to teach other people to play guitar. And still does. He says, “You can only learn guitar through people. "Some of my favourite people in the world are skilled guitar teachers, and people learning guitar. Especially Beginners!!! They’re the ones who need our help the most. Once you've got a good foundation, you will have no problem being self taught from then on".
One of his greatest achievements was making it easier for blind people to learn guitar. To accomplish this, he worked very hard with former Total Guitar Magazine editor and UK National Geographic TV presenter, Nick Cracknell. Together, they eventually found a way to word his audio books and refine his teaching techniques in audio, in a way that would also give blind people an opportunity to learn guitar.
As a result of that project, in 2018 Pauric then recorded in French with leading French composer, Jean Michel GEORGE. And also in Spanish with top US TV voice over artist Alexandro Gomez. As a result of their collaboration, the first ever "Teach Yourself Guitar Audiobooks" were released in 2018, in Spanish and in French.

Pauric Mather is now the most translated guitar author in the world, with books, audiobooks and teaching programs available in more than 10 languages. What’s even more remarkable is that You Need No Knowledge Of Music to learn from his teaching style.
His guitar work also helps him to support clean and safe water well projects, mostly in Africa. His interest was inspired by the work of his father and uncles who were pioneered well drilling in Ireland in the 1950's. For every student enrolled in his guitar programs and every guitar book sold, a donation is made to clean and safe water projects through CharityWater.org.
In his spare time, Pauric Mather likes playing golf, walking, and watching James Bond movies. He is also a member of The Black Cat Appreciation Society.
